COLOR
Designers are well aware of the importance of color and color temperature. It has been proven by various sources how color choice for the designed space has an influence on users.
Color is the perception that comes out as different wavelengths of light reaching to the retina of the eye. As the light falls on materials and is sucked and reflected partly, this perception varies, which is known as color tone or color. If all wavelengths reach to the eyes at the same time, white will be perceived, but black will be perceived unless some light reaches. The eyes of a person can perceive the wavelengths between 380nm and 780nm, so this visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum is called light.
The behaviour of a person can be influenced in many ways by the characteristics of colors both have an effect and a reflection on the changeable air. Peace, spaciousness and quietness or even pessimism is met, depending on the situation. Besides, the effects of colors depend on our special occasions, moods and possible reactions arising from natural conditions.
Color & Color Quality
RED: Red, the primary one of warm colors, has a rich and an active effect. Having the longest wavelength, red is so powerful especially when used in a dark background that even a small red spot in the image affects the whole of it. This is the color of both brightness and dynamism while symbolizing happiness. Red color physically shows the initiation and the richness and emotionally shows the determination and the decisiveness to complete the work.
YELLOW (Amber): The brightest color that can be seen from long distances. Being the most eye-catching color, yellow is preferred for the warning lights. That’s why; taxis and school buses are all yellow throughout the world. Yellow has a kind of meaning which reflects social life and living together. It is a warm and rich color that symbolizes both the sun and the light. Yellow encourages and calms people while providing us many advantages for mental acts, works and liberalism.
GREEN: With its freshness effect on people, green color provides peace and expectation deeply. Letting the eyes relax, green is quite well for them while giving brightness. Moreover, it keeps silence in itself. Green is the color of nature and spring. It is such a confidential color that green is used on logos of banks. In addition to this, it leads to creativity. As green is a relaxing color, this color is also used in hospitals.
BLUE: Among three primary colors of RGB color system, blue has the shortest wavelength. Blue color makes us relax and calm. Besides its calming effect, blue has an inspiration on our ideas, calms us and relaxes our eyes. Symbolizing constraint, calmness, passivity, infinity and far distances, blue is the dominant color of the world and also the symbol of the sky, the horizon and the sea. While representing peace, this color helps the person to get calm. It has been stated that children who are educated at schools with blue walls behave better.
PINK: Pink is the color between red and white. Because it is a relaxing color, salespersons dress in pink uniforms in stores to make customers feel relaxed.
ORANGE: As a warm color, orange creates a showy and an arty effect along with its atmosphere. Orange color loses some of red’s richness when compared with such a rich one.
WHITE: White color symbolizes innocence, purity and nobleness. It stands as a connective and can be in different tones, namely color temperatures.
In nature, it is harder to perceive the light practically from the way it rebounds only from objects. However, we can get independent lights emitted in different frequencies by reflecting light sources in different colors on a wall from the same point.
RGB (Total-color mixture)
RGB is the color space whose name comes from the initial letters of the English words ‘Red’ ‘Green’ and ‘Blue’. Taking light as the basis, the codes of all colors in nature are represented by reference to these primary colors. When each color is mixed up to an amount of 100 percent, white color is obtained.
The basis of this model shows the wavelength sensors of light reaching to these colors on the eye retina of a person. Between the wavelengths among them, each of these three sensors reacts at different levels and this reaction creates a color perception on brain. For instance, ‘red’ and ‘green’ sensors are largely alerted when a light on a wavelength which we call yellow of the rainbow falls on our eyes. This combination turns into ‘yellow’ in our brains. If red light falls, only ‘red’ sensors are alerted. The arrival of red, green and blue lights with all wavelengths at the same time give the same effect: white light. Therefore, it is possible to get all the colors by setting light sources together with their luminosity of these three colors.
COLOR QUALITY
Color quality and adjustment are important factors for LED lighting products. The number of LEDs is generally more than one in a single LED lighting product. Moreover, numerous LED products can be used adjacently in a project, so any problem on color quality reflects on the whole of the product and the application. Unfortunately, this problem resulting directly from the technology that LED manufacturers use isn’t known much by users, but the products manufactured with this problem are bad references as they cause colors to differ from each other.
There are natural variations in the fabrication processes of all semiconductor materials. These variations make differences in electrical features as well as light efficiency power for LEDs. Calling LEDs by the name “binning”, the leading LED manufacturers of the world separate manufactured LEDs to minimize this problem by using different techniques and technologies.
In order to minimize this problem and obtain an optimal color adjustment, we, as Damla LED, supply all of our LEDs used in our manufacture from the LED manufacturers which have the right techniques and the technologies in their production as “selective bin”, so we standardize the color quality of our products.
